Its ability to manipulate social variables relevant to the manner of speaking in two or more steps can be a strength. This ability can aid researchers understand the role of prosody in communicating across cultural contexts, a major challenge in cross-cultural pragmatics.<br><br>In the field of linguistics, the DCT has become one of the most important tools for analyzing learners' behavior in communication. It used a variety of experimental tools including Discourse Completion Tasks, metapragmatic questions and Refusal Interviews. Participants were 46 CLKs with upper-intermediate ability who provided responses to DCTs and MQs. They were also asked to consider their evaluations and refusal performance in RIs. The results showed that CLKs are more likely to resist native Korean norms of pragmatism. Their decisions were influenced by four factors: their personalities and multilingual identities, their ongoing life histories as well as their relationships. These findings have implications for pedagogy for L2 Korean assessment.<br><br>The MQ data was analyzed in order to determine the participants' practical choices. The data were classified according to Ishihara's (2010) definition of pragmatic resistance. Then, we compared their selections with their linguistic performance using DCTs in order to determine if they were indicative of a pragmatic resistance. In addition, the interviewees were asked to justify their decision to use pragmatic language in a particular situation.<br><br>The results of the MQs, DCTs and z-tests were analyzed with descriptive statistics and Z tests.
