Item Upgrading: What Nobody Is Talking About

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a high possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values can enhance a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

For instance, a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different number of components, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item level upgrade, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item level upgrade.

When the player upgrades the equipment they have it is replaced by a new item. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item upgrade comes with its own set bonus. This could be a problem in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not need it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be repeated often, as it can waste lots of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. Requirements
