The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up 700 points and also add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition, many weapons have a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. This bonus can sometimes be greater than the damage that an upgrade alone can cause.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade item while a +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons also alter the stats of their base. While this is usually an excellent thing, it can have some negative consequences as well. Upgrades can make items unusable, unless you are extremely lucky.

Armor items can also be upgraded to improve their stats. In the case of chests or helms, it will boost the defense of its base, while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also has a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading in addition to their respective values. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in the weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will strike 3 times less often, since it is an absolute number.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with arrows that circle in the menu for items. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats but it will not reset the weapon's level or tie it to the account status.

Armor

A few armor upgrades can make all the difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poison and fire as well as magic. This makes it easier to get through difficult terrains. In general, the more defense you have for your character, the greater health you'll get from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.

To improve your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and to unlock each fountain, you must complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. Once you've done the main side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain you'll be able to speak to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.

The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll need anywhere between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in cold environments with a large group of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with your comrades.

Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll want to work on upgrading it for physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still wear by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

Potions

Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP. These can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in an Alchemist's chest. However, the cost of upgrading will vary based on the type of potion you'd like to upgrade, as well as on the item upgrades's Mark Level and Rarity.

To upgrade a potion, right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. The potion table can now be made using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Contrary to Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be used in cauldrons. The same is true for using a potion in an empty cauldron. This will deplete the liquid, and then refill the bottle.

There are also lingering potions that are brewed using dragon breath and splash potions. Similar to lingering potions, the can be enhanced by adding redstone to it. The table of potion ingredients is now organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as potion of leaping, potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket can be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It could also refer to an object or ornament that has a purpose but isn't essential such as a Thimble. In some cultures a trinket is used to show affection or friendship between family members.

Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons or armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their stats.

Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be bought with tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a brand new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl of the previous one, and will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.

Trinkets can be upgraded once they are not needed which allows a player to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are a popular alternative to gold.

In general, players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This usually means the Best item upgrader-in-slot items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other pieces of gear that will not be replaced in the near future (for instance an earring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade players should consider the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players and they want to upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.

Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they're no longer needed and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, but is still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
