It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuums that mop vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried.
