However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin, which removes a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up all kinds of debris in our testing, and it often passes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent vacuum cleaner navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its original location.
