The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's more expensive and make more noise.

You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.
