One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
