The authors of the Pragmatic Free Trial Meta identified 48 RCTs that self-described themselves as pragmatist and 프라그마틱 체험 published up to 2022. The PRECIS-2 tool was employed to evaluate pragmatism. It includes areas like eligibility criteria and flexibility in recruitment and adherence to intervention and follow-up. They discovered that 14 of these trials scored as highly or pragmatic sensible (i.e., scoring 5 or more) in any one or more of these domains and that the majority of them were single-center.

Trials that have high pragmatism scores tend to have broader criteria for eligibility than traditional RCTs. They also contain patients from a variety of hospitals. These characteristics, according to the authors, may make pragmatic trials more relevant and useful in everyday practice. However they do not ensure that a study is free of bias. The pragmatism characteristic is not a fixed characteristic; a pragmatic test that does not have all the characteristics of an explanatory study may still yield reliable and beneficial results.
