However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaner that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock robots that vacuum and mop automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
