Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work, or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish autonomous vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuum cleaner best vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
