Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This value is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average level of an item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can look at the level of an item upgrader mod. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it is capable of causing. The level of an item can be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the item. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For example, a grey or white Best item upgrade can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Affixes can also be used to change an item upgrading's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with the arrows that circle. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges similar to other rerolling methods.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to keep on an Best item upgrader after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it is an item that is unique or a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial in early game runs because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it fails.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
