Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic cleaner and mop hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuums best vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum cleaner uk mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot hoover and mop uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
