They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. 3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the automatic vacuum cleaner's trash bin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better.
