This reduces the tensile but increases the modulus of elasticity.

Carbon fiber is naturally resistant against oxidation. This shields it from rust. It has a lower coefficient than steel and therefore is less likely to change its shape when exposed to heat. Its fatigue properties are also superior over those of metal, therefore, carbon fiber will last longer than metal counterparts.
