However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including getting rid of any clutter or toys it may come across. We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and vacuum a specific space. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. After connecting we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of types of debris and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its base.
