A biopsy is the removal of a small piece of tissue that is examined. This test will reveal whether the mesothelioma attorney has epithelioid (epidermoid), Sarcomatoid (sarcomatoid) or biphasic.

If the mesothelioma is in an early stage doctors can remove all the tumors and offer the best treatment. The doctor will also be able to determine if the cancer has spread to the abdomen. They can then prescribe palliative care for the patient, for example paracentesis to drain the abdominal fluid.

The outlook for patients is worse when a mesothelioma has advanced. The tumors may become resistant to certain treatment and then recur. The doctor may suggest a combination of surgery and chemotherapy. Options for surgery include cytoreduction and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemo. This combination is more likely than chemotherapy on its own to improve the prognosis of patients.
