Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will increase 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item upgrader mod must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for instancefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will drop during the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their equipment even if they are unsure what will be improved following the reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item will become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the possibility of failure, and some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 whenever you can.

In the endgame, you will often find that the Best item upgrade way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes more quickly.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values can enhance a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing a Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids, for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each item level requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades a piece of equipment it will be replaced by the new item. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a disadvantage, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can waste a lot of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like a dolphin). This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the max roll by 10 points. This item is extremely useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of a non-upgraded version.

Requirements

The upgrader for items allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades at a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Players will still have to take each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the expenses listed above.
