Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaners best we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuums that mop utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
