The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic hoovers vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot vacuum reviews mop cleaners we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
