They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
