One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance.
