Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
