The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot cleaner with mop vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance.
