They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum cleaners reviews that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant.
