The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is robots that vacuum and mop the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in minutes.

It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum that mops that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
