Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage for each time it is upgraded.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be used. A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of that equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure how much it will be improved after an update.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Glyphs

Leveling
