World of Warcraft Item Upgrade and Set Bonuses

The item upgrade is a form of enchantment that improves the stats in certain weapons or armor. This includes tertiary stats like Leech or Speed.

Once you reach your goal of upgrading to level 6, it's generally better to reroll and find the most effective upgrades or save up money to buy the next set of items. This will ensure that you have a robust lineup by the time you hit your goal of upgrading to level 9.

The rerolling process is very similar to the level up system. You can use reroll tokens to eliminate any Level Up option from your item and swap it for another. Reroll tokens like Level Up do not reset an item's level. This means that if you reroll an upgraded item, it will no longer be at that level and won't be able to enjoy its extra bonus.

In addition to rerolling, players may use a special technique called Eliminate to remove any one Level Up option from their equipment or weapons. Although it's not clear in the game's universe why the armor sets need to be worn together in order to create these effects, they do give some variety when playing the game. The armor sets that have Set Bonuses can be found numerous locations around Hyrule including the Dark Moon Temple and Twilight Temple.

Set Bonuses are associated with each piece of equipment within the Set. The tooltip near the bottom of the item will tell you which Set Bonuses are available. Set Bonuses are displayed in a box that has a red border.

Certain of these set bonuses are only available for certain pieces of equipment. For example, if you equip the full Phantom Armor set you will get +8 defense (compared to the standard +3 defense included in the majority of gear). Other sets are only available through certain quests or purchasing them at the Auction House.
