There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxes this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
