There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot cleaner uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. Also, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily.
