Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will be able to gain an additional 3% of the previous damage for each time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level upgrade level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player is able to have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will be available at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a high possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.

You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Leveling

These points can be used for leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When an individual player upgrade a piece of equipment the original item is replaced by a new item. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a problem because it can cause the item to become more expensive if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to do so. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can waste many resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as dolphins). In addition the item will be deducted any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest.
