It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum mop cleaner robot/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map.
