The evaluation included a thorough medical history and physical examination. The review included a detailed psychological assessment, family therapy assessment and a psychiatric diagnosis interview.

According to the report the report states that Miss Kelly was afflicted by multiple mental health issues, including borderline personality disorder, bulimia-nervosa, and anorexia nervosa. She also had an addiction history to drugs and domestic abuse. Stress, anxiety and depression made her suffer more. She was also diagnosed as having bipolar affective disorder and schizoaffective disorders.

Elayaperumal claims that Medtronic intentionally discriminated against him because of his race and national origin. He claims that his poor performance review in June of 2000 and the refusal to give him certain projects assignments were influenced by racism. However there is no evidence to suggest that Medtronic's decision-making was based on these factors. Elayaperumal’s lower performance rating did not result in a reduction in his compensation or benefits.
