The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It could get stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it comes with all the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or by voice.

In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households however, it can also fit nicely on the table for a coffee or a bookshelf that you can spin around like an enchanted device.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. It could pick up most types of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times for an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.

This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.
