Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums that mop vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
