The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide better cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning robot mop and vacuum for different areas of your home depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Also the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create an automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
