However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its dirt into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or voice.

In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying that eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with amazon robot vacuum Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After connecting to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It swiftly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back.

The model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides easy access to 2 attachments as well as the wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice feature.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top selections and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer parts that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested and this could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
