It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop combination.

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
