The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic cleaner and mop hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum cleaner vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning robot mop and vacuum machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums best vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
