The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic cleaner and mop hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning robot mop and vacuum machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
