Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, the symbol of the noughties that had more money than common sense, are in steep decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers which can be more versatile in terrain, while still looking swanky and being easy to push.
The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy will cope with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. With larger wheels front and back also makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and a 3 wheel stroller for newborn year old and found that it was able to withstand grass, cobbles, rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is solid to push and is very stable when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need periodic pumping) have suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. It should be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also want it to be able to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have an option to lie flat completely while others only allow for an adult facing one.

They also allow you to move the pushchair around tight spaces. Certain three-wheeled buggies have swivel wheels on the front, which assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This also helps in the event that you hit the roots of a tree or stray curb, since the front wheel can be lifted up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.
Many 3 wheel pushchair sale wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll need to have a repair kit and spare inner tube in your arsenal.
Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. According to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to climb or descend kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that, in her words "smoothes out bumps with great efficiency".
Buggies with larger wheels may be quite large, and they may be a challenge to fit into tight spaces. This can be an issue if you plan to use it for jogging or you need to get through narrow doorways while out and about. Most models come with compact folding options, which let you remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to maneuver
One of the primary benefits to a three-wheeled buggy is that it's much more maneuverable particularly with a child in tow. They are designed so that the front wheels be turned on a dime and are easy to move, making them ideal for challenging terrain such as cobblestones, parks, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3 wheeler pushchair off road-wheeler with her toddler, and she said: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on rough terrain. The front swivel wheel was particularly useful." I was also amazed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when in the downhills or on a rough terrain."
The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheeled pushchair wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should keep in mind when you live in a city. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.
