The statistics of an item upgrader kit are improved through upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.

Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to a different piece equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, therefore it should not be considered as a loss.

Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also add a glyph on your equipment to give it a bonus. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at once. Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses.
