The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuum that mops vacuums we have examined. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
