The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features.

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they are.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot vacuum cleaners reviews to clean one specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum cleaner vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good robot vacuum job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
