The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair and large particles and clean them as required. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is robots that vacuum and mop the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum that mops that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
