The History Of Best Robot Vacuum That Mops

Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst at Good Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.
He tests and evaluates cleaning equipment. His focus is on mopping robots and vacuum combinations. These multitaskers can be a great option for those looking to get rid of mopping off their list of tasks. They are equipped with impressive mapping and obstacle avoidance capabilities, and some even wash and refill their own mopping pads for a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model to choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It's smaller than other options and makes it easier to maneuver in tight corners or under furniture. It uses a 220 degree lidar, which when combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best navigation and obstacle avoidance I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It has a 4600mAh battery which can last up to 170 mins when mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can be more efficient when using turbo). It can even return to the dock to replenish its battery part way through an efficient.
It's extremely quick and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in one go. Its suction motor of 8,000pa makes short work of picking up dirt, crumbs, and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help to tease out debris from corners.
The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as impressive. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms stick out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful for getting into tight corners and on baseboards. The front arms can be used to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and books.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't make more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it must use a proprietary mopping solution and is sold separately. It is easy to set up and works well. However, if you are buying this robot vacuum for mopping purposes, you will need to be aware of this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners who want an efficient, flexible and adaptable cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with an extremely powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the home and locate furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and efficiently. This will result in a thorough, consistent clean that's also fairly quick.
In terms of mopping, the Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads are capable of reaching many different surface areas. These include corners, baseboards, and other hard-to-reach spots. They also have a stretchy side brush that can extend to the floor in close proximity to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and dry to remove odors and prevent buildup.
Another feature worth mentioning is the app-based customization options. The Q Revo lets you alter the suction intensity and choose a back-and forth or slightly random pattern. You can also select the number of passes, which will determine the speed at which it can move around your home. You can also disable the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.
The device comes with a expensive price, but is packed with a wide array of smart features. It is important to keep in mind that the device is subject to recurring expenses in the form mopping supplies as well as regular maintenance. For example, the brushroll will need to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to twelve months. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pad must be replaced every three to six months.
The robot vacuum that mops has an excellent rating on Amazon and comes with a wide array of physical automation features. These include a power button that can also function as a general 'Clean button as well as a Home button that will take it back to its base station once it has completed its cleaning session. It also comes with a multi-functional dock which automatically empty the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and wash and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or just want to have a clean home without spending much time doing chores then the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. It has powerful performance, smart navigation, and a long battery life that allows you to keep your home clean with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is an all-in-one vacuum and mop. It is able to perform vacuuming as well as mopping. The robot comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping module with microfiber pads that snap into and out of position. It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping, but it does mean you don't have to fret about changing out disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.
Our testers found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its most impressive feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it utilizes when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate easily around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option to set 'No-Go zones' and virtual barriers that help to shield specific areas of your home from being swept with a mop.
We also discovered that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in picking up hair from pets. It was able to capture a large amount of hair that shed by our cats and even was able to get into the nooks and crevices of our stairs, where other robots struggled. It was relatively silent and also had a few pleasant jingles that signalled when it was beginning or finished its work.
The biggest flaws were its lack of sophistication and the necessity to switch between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app isn't able to hold multiple maps, which can be a hassle if you have a home with a mix of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for an intelligent robot that can do both mopping and vacuuming.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive in our review. It does however, have distinct features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's main draw is its enormous dock, which doubles as the robot's charging base as well as housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink as well as the 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically empties.
The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to start cleaning and then recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally become so entangled with obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and ceases to function until you remove it manually. This was a rare incident however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have a "stuck status" alert in its application.
Another issue that could be a problem is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.
On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a significant departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome appearance in a market which is dominated by clunky boxes and clunky models.
