WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrade that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item upgrading however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrading upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through several methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if those items come from another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item level upgrade upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's Best item upgrade to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
