1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoovers hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they are.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum uk vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums that we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
