The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot cleaner that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
