The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are positives.

Check your robot vacuum cleaners uk's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot vacuum cleaner best's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose automatic vacuum and mop that is very efficient however it's more expensive and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the autonomous vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot vacuums that mop mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
