Greenpower Mobility - All-Energy Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles

Greenpower designs manufactures and distributes a variety of heavy and medium-duty electric vehicles. This includes transit buses, school buses as cargo buses as well as shuttles.

EV Star is a highly customizable, zero-emission vehicle that's fully FTA certified, Altoona tested and Buy America certified. It has a class-leading range and ADA wheelchair provisions. It also has cargo delivery setups.

GreenPower Motor Company produces a full suite of high-floor and Go green power scooter mobility power scooters [mosabqat.net] low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship model, and can be adapted to meet a variety of applications. The platform's design is based on a clean sheet of paper, which allows for optimal placement of the battery pack and a lower center-of-gravity. This leads to better range/payload ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX was developed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The refrigerated trucks of class 4 have a single interior wall structure, and higher insulation than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior cargo capacity and an industry-leading payload to allow for zero emission transport of passengers or goods.

GreenPower joined forces with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems, which will enable fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging up to 75 kW.

We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local highway and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can block wind and road noise while driving along the highway. It is smooth on bumps and ruts. The vehicle's acceleration is surprising quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes to enable "one-pedal driving" simply by lifting off the accelerator.

The EV9 provides a large range and can be recharged within three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. Drivers can choose between two modes of operation that include eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode focuses on the torque, cruise control and handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both modes are fun to drive, and offer a unique experience for those who have never driven an electrical vehicle before.

In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicles available, including a multi-purpose all-electric mini bus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, micro-transit, transit vanpool, bus or paratransit vehicle.

GreenPower is currently producing around 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 fully power electric scooter vehicles. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping up production to meet demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA certified. This means that they are eligible for federal transit assistance grants. Check back when we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later in the year. We will give more details about this innovative EV!
