1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum with mop vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
